Day 18: Trade Self-Judgment for Self-Esteem

Hello Team Gratitude,

Happy Sunday to you! Today is our third day of “Change your words, change your life!”… trade negative self-judgment for building self-esteem. With this thought in mind, here is a great classic quote from Henry Ford: “The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't are both right. Which one are you?”

The dictionary defines these two words as follows:

·         Self-judgment: the act of judging oneself; to be critical of oneself

·         Self-esteem: a confidence and satisfaction in oneself; a realistic respect for or favorable impression of oneself

Let’s look at our word “trade out” for today with real life examples:

Situation #1:

·         “I just can’t do as well as her.”

·         “My talents are uniquely mine, and I am really great at doing what I do best.”

Situation #2:

·         “I am too fat (or too skinny, or too short, or too whatever negative judgment comes into your mind).”

·         “I am perfectly and uniquely myself.  I am beautiful just the way that I am.”

Positive or negative self talk can and will change your day and change your future.  Choose positive self talk today and you will build your self esteem, not break it down.  Tell yourself the following in all that you do, remembering the little blue engine who simply believed…

Be grateful for exactly who you are today!  You were perfectly made to be YOU!

Your thankful friend who believes in you!

Amy

In that day you will say:
"Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;
let this be known to all the world.
(Isaiah 12:4, 5 NIV)
